I'm posting fills for my 8-13-13 card. I've been using fests as a way of generating extra prompts for my Poetry Fishbowl and other crowdfunding projects, so the sponsored ones and some free perks have been posted while other stuff is still available for sponsorship. Want to see something that isn't posted yet? Many of my fills belong to series, so their prices will be listed under the relevant series on my Serial Poetry page. For stand-alone pieces you can ask in a comment.

Row 1 Prompts (five poems): a cunning plan, wishing, failure, hope, curiosity.

The following poem belongs to my series The Steamsmith.  It features a black, female, British alchemical engineer named Maryam Smith.  This steampunk series deals in themes of science, socioeconomics, racism, sexism, genderbending, duty, and innovation.

Title: "Turning the Crank"
Series: The Steamsmith
Prompt: A cunning plan
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Notes: Maryam Smith and George Cavendish encounter obstacles in their competition to create the smallest alchemical lantern.

The following poem belongs to my series Polychrome Heroics.  This is a superhero setting with a variety of focal characters.  The primary one is a plural person collectively called Damask, with different powers depending on who's in control at the time.  Themes include diversity of sexuality, gender, ethnicity, and ableness; intrapersonal, interpersonal, and social dynamics; and different types of heroism.

 Title: "That Kind of Hero"
Series: Polychrome Heroics
Prompt: Wishing
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: verbal abuse, interpersonal and intrapersonal tension, and vulgar language
Notes: The headmates Ham, Keane, and Clement quarrel over a mishap in recent combat.

The following poem belongs to the shared world of Torn World.  This is science fantasy in a setting where temporal technology has had severe negative impacts.  There are two main cultures, the snow-unicorn riders in the north and the Empire in the south.

Title: "The Wrong Choice"
Series: Torn World
Prompt: Failure
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Notes: Oranaan has a lab accident while trying to study the dangerous anomalies.

The following poem belongs to my series Diminished Expectations.  This is dystopic science fiction dealing with the aftermath of chemical warfare, disability, freedom and oppression, artificial intelligence, and families of choice.  A majority of the writing runs very dark.

Title: "The Sum of Her Parts"
Series: Diminished Expectations
Prompt: Hope
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Body horror, discrimination
Notes: The gynoid is made of mismatched pieces, but she is determined to be herself anyway.

The following poem belongs to my series P.I.E.  It's urban fantasy about a paranormal investigator named Brenda Cochlain, who has impaired mobility and still holds her own in a fight.  Her unofficial partner is Darrel Finn, an undercover cop.  Themes include weird cases, combat, ability and disability, friendship, and romance.

Title: "The Freedom Machine"
Series: P.I.E.
Prompt: Curiosity
Rating: PG
Warnings: Rude and intrusive behavior
Notes: Brenda and Darrel sometimes find it challenging to deal with other people's emotions.
