This is for my 11-26-13 card. Most of these are still available for sponsorship.
O Column (four poems, one story): luck, swearing / cursing, impossible, wisdom, ordinary day.
Fandoms: Walking the Beat, Polychrome Heroics, Torn World, stand-alone
The following poem belongs to my series Walking the Beat. Dale and Kelly are a lesbian couple living in Jamaica Plain. Dale is a recently retired policevet who walks with a limp; Kelly is Deaf. Together they work on adjusting to their new life and try to improve their community. Themes include gender, sexual orientation, community, disability, and adaptation.
Title: "The House Dragon"
Series: Walking the Beat
Prompt: Luck
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: Dale and Kelly notice one of Will's knickknacks.
The next poem belongs to my series Polychrome Heroics. This is a superhero setting with a variety of focal characters. The primary one is a plural person collectively called Damask, with different powers depending on who's in control at the time. Themes include diversity of sexuality, gender, ethnicity, and ableness; intrapersonal, interpersonal, and social dynamics; and different types of heroism.
Title: "Buttoned Up"
Series: Polychrome Heroics
Prompt: Swearing / cursing
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Mad science including recreational drugs and elaborate explosives. Dysfunctional dynamics. Nosy reporter.
Notes: Damask tries to keep mad science from destroying campus.
Two of the following items belong to the shared world of Torn World. This is science fantasy in a setting where temporal technology has had severe negative impacts. There are two main cultures, the snow-unicorn riders in the north and the Empire in the south.
Title: "Tangleweed"
Series: Torn World
Prompt: Impossible
Rating: PG
Warnings: Canon-typical violence involving sea monsters.
Notes: A new type of sea monster makes people uneasy.
Title: "The Wisdom Kings"
Series: stand-alone
Prompt: Wisdom
Rating: PG
Warnings: Inner demons.
Notes: The herukas are enlightened beings who take on a ferocious appearance to benefit others.
Title: "Sugarballs and Storytelling"
Series: Torn World
Prompt: Ordinary day
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: Bai and Rai enjoy a family outing.
